After-School All-Stars Columbus
Postition located in Columbus, OH

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
After-School All-Stars (ASAS) is a leading national after-school program provider. Our comprehensive school-based programs combine activities and learning to help build the knowledge and skills children need to succeed, both in school and in life. Our programs focus on middle school students attending schools where the majority of students come from low income families. Founded as a national organization by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1992, ASAS is building a national model for after-school program delivery through our 13 Chapters, all of which serve at-risk youth in major U.S. cities. ASAS Columbus has been serving low income, inner city youth in the city of Columbus for the past eight years. Beginning in September 2008, the ASAS Columbus comprehensive after-school program will be revitalized to include homework support, a variety of engaging enrichment activities, and physical fitness opportunities. ASAS Columbus will partner with three designated Columbus area middle school program sites in 2008 with plans to serve many more locations in the future.

The Position:
ASAS is currently seeking candidates for the Executive Director position of the Columbus Chapter. General responsibilities include overall organizational management and leadership, fundraising, promotion of the organization within the community, and the development and monitoring of this Chapter's programs.

Roles and Responsibilities
Organizational Management and Leadership:

  • Strategize with the Board of Directors to establish goals, objectives, and general policies for this After-School All-Stars Chapter.
  • Provide ongoing overall management of this After-School All-Stars Chapter.
  • Prepare the budget, along with the Chairperson and Treasurer of the Board of Directors (hereafter, Chairperson), for approval by the Board of Directors and monitor the budget throughout the year.
  • Provide regular updates on fiscal operational matters for Board of Directors for review, comment, and approval (as appropriate).
  • Hire, contract, and manage personnel, including staff, consultants and volunteers.
  • Meet regularly with the Chairperson to provide status updates, facilitate communication, solve problems, and maintain the overall direction of this After-School All-Stars Chapter.
  • Work with the Board of Directors to design and plan the activities of this After-School All-Stars Chapter in accordance with the mission of the After-School All-Stars, as well as carry out the general policies as set forth by the Board of Directors.
  • Establish working relationships with school districts, other community organizations, government agencies, sponsors, community participants, and appropriate staff.
  • Work with the After-School All-Stars Chief Executive Officer and the National Office staff and National Board, as appropriate, pursuant to the license agreement and governing policies.
  • Work with vendors and execute contracts on behalf of the After-School All-Stars in accordance with good business principles and standards of professional not-for-profit organizations.
  • Provide for all necessary legal and other necessary arrangements (insurance, permits, police, etc.).
  • Work with accountants in respect to audits, tax filings and other reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and administer human resource policies, and effectively manage and supervise staff, volunteers and contract program providers and other vendors

Fundraising and Organizational Promotion:

  • Work with the Board to develop a fundraising strategy to support the goals, objectives and activities of this After-School All-Stars Chapter.
  • Work with the Board to strategize, plan, and solicit major sponsors and donors.
  • Maintain general relationships, including regular communication, with all key sponsors.
  • Ensure that all sponsorship agreements are fulfilled.
  • Prepare and distribute, as appropriate, all needed materials for soliciting sponsors.
  • Maintain current, accurate records of sponsors and key aspects of sponsor relations.
  • Research and write or supervise the preparation of grant applications or sponsorship proposals.
  • Fulfill all reporting requirements for grants received.
  • Develop, manage and maintain relationships with media and use them to communicate the message of After-School All-Stars and promote appropriate events.

Programming:

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise all aspects of program development, working closely with appropriate staff and partners.
  • Manage the overall aspects of program development and program implementation.
  • Provide the best quality possible programs, including security, safety, efficiency, timing, and atmosphere.
  • Inform target population about programs and recruit participants.
  • Identify and open new program sites as feasible and appropriate.
  • Plan and execute all special events.
  • Track student participation, attendance and program outcomes.Conduct appropriate evaluation through suitable means to get feedback from participating youth, the Board of Directors, staff, community partners, sponsors, donors, and volunteers. Summarize and present evaluation results to the Board of Directors and National Office, as appropriate.

Director - Planning, Development & Partnerships

This position can be located in either the Durham, NC or Arlington, VA office.  As a part of the FHI Planning, Development & Communications (PDC) Team, this position will play a critical role in developing and overseeing implementation of FHI’s overall business plan, including the development of critical partnerships and alliances, as well as overseeing the FHI fundraising strategy.  Building and then leading a small team, the Director will build on current FHI activities in this area, with a focus on the following:

 - overseeing the development and facilitating the implementation of FHI‘s global business plan;

- establishing, maintaining and enhancing FHI’s partnerships and alliances with a variety of organizations and individuals including funders, private sector companies, individuals and others who are aligned with FHI’s mission and vision;

- establishing and overseeing FHI’s fundraising strategy; and,

- working closely with the Communications team to ensure harmonized implementation of the PDC operational plan.

The Director will be expected to develop strong relations with both US and country-based staff, and also to build partnership building, business planning and business development capacity across FHI staff. As part of the External Relations team, the Director will be expected to work closely with the Director of Communications, as well as the leadership of the Global Operations, Information Programs, and Resource Development teams as well as the FHI Executive and Senior Teams.

Bachelor’s and Master’s degree with over 10 years of related work experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in business planning, strategy development, partnership building, and communication.  Prior experience working in the private sector, with sensitivity towards its application to the international development environment is preferred.

Position Summary:
The PA Breast Cancer Coalition is seeking a highly motivated, experienced fundraiser with excellent communication skills to work full-time in the Ephrata, PA office.  (Ephrata is located in northern Lancaster County, about an hour east of Harrisburg.)


Candidate is responsible for the overall fundraising efforts of the organization.  He/she will have the ability to organize and manage multiple projects under deadlines and interact well with all levels of staff, board and volunteers.  Major gift, grant writing, annual campaign and planned giving experience required.  Candidate should have proven success with direct gift solicitation and be a positive, personable team player. 


The Development Director will plan and coordinate various fundraising campaigns, build relationships with individual donors, and identify diverse funding sources for the PBCC. 


Duties include, but are not limited to:

Chief Development Officer

Selma, Alabama

Position Summary

Located in Selma, Alabama, the Society of St. Edmund’s Southern Missions is a highly respected Non-profit organization nationally known for responding to the absolute human needs of poor and marginalized Blacks across the Southern Black Belt for more than 70 years.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Chief Development Officer will be responsible for creating, directing and implementing effective national direct mail and donor-centered fundraising strategies, tactics and initiatives to effectively link low, mid-level, and major gift prospects and donors to the Edmundite mission in meaningful ways. This highly visible leadership position will lead an integrated fund development program and team of 10 to identify and target direct mail donors and prospects; nurture and cultivate donor relationships, solicit major gifts, and create and implement stewardship plans to raise $7 to $10 million to bring help and hope to poor Blacks through food, clothing, shelter and education ministries across four rural counties in the South.

Qualifications and Attributes

The Chief Development Officer will be an articulate and visionary leader with the ability to guide and continue to build a successful, national direct mail program, while creating and implementing innovative donor-centered strategies to educate, motivate, inform and inspire donors to make a difference in the lives of poor and marginalized Blacks in the Deep South.  The ideal candidate will grasp the Southern Black experience intuitively and critically to articulate mission, values, vision and compelling cases to multiple audiences, one-on-one and through formal proposals and presentations.

Seven to 10 years of experience leading fund development teams to higher levels of success is essential and direct mail expertise is vital. CFRE is preferred.

Position Description

The Chief Development Officer will be an imaginative, dynamic, development professional with a passion for mission that is capable of leveraging fundraising experience to design, build and implement a successful, comprehensive fund development strategy.  This individual will create, execute, and supervise a donor-centered annual plan and case for support to inspire and lead the fund development staff to maintain and sustain the Edmundite Missions legacy in the South.  To that end, responsibilities include:

§         Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives

§         Facilitate the strategic design, organization, and implementation of both short- and long-term development plans to strengthen the organization’s financial resources

§         Work closely and effectively with the Executive Director, Director of Marketing and Communications, Programs Director and the Board to develop budgets, identify funding priorities, outline programs and ministries, and achieve consensus on appropriate funding initiatives

§         Develop and manage annual development budgets for the organization and perform periodic cost and productivity analyses

§         Direct all aspects of fund development including annual giving, major and planned giving, on-line/web-based giving, capital efforts as necessary, and administration and reporting of department efforts

§         In tandem with the Executive Director:

o        Strategically design, organize, and implement short- and long-term development plans to strengthen the financial resources of the Southern Missions

o        Prepare and implement the annual fund plan and long-range plan

o        Create and share a compelling case for support with prospects and donors, highlighting ministries in the South

o        Maintain and sustain donor relationships through effective and highly specialized stewardship initiatives

o        Create and ensure synergy between direct mail appeals, program funding and donor development

§         Lead and manage the planned giving program to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects and donors

§         Lead and manage all aspects of the major gifts program to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors of $1,000 and above

§         Develop prospect lists for annual fund gifts, endowment, and planned gifts

§         Maintain active efforts to evaluate prospects identified through fieldwork, screening, rating, and research

§         Effectively engage the Executive Director, Programs Director and Outreach Ministry Directors in the major gift and planned giving solicitation process

§         Identify, maintain and sustain a portfolio of major gift prospects (100-200)

§         Create a personalized stewardship plan for Top 100-200 prospective donors with high capacity for new and upgraded gifts

§         Develop detailed timelines and next move gift strategies to ensure systematic, direct contact and follow up with major gift prospects and donors in person, in writing, and by telephone

§         Conduct major donor research, including use of donor database for accurate tracking of contacts, pledges and gifts for the major gifts program

§         Work with Executive Director to document development progress and provide timely development progress reports to the Board

§         Effectively promote development efforts and educate the internal and external communities and the constituency at large

§         Conduct staff meetings to inspire, motivate and coordinate all fundraising efforts

§         Work closely with national consultants to further expand all fundraising efforts

§         Willingness to travel as needed
